ACCULTURATION PROGRAMME :This is a progrmme where all students studying any of the Nigerian Languages in Colleges of Education undertake for twelve weeks.

At the completion of a first year study, students select for

study, any other Nigerian Language aside from their mother tongue. He or she then study the selected language and interact with native speakers of the language at designated localities.

Hence, all students studying Igbo Language in this manner, converge in the Institute for Nigerian Languages, which situates in the heart of an Igbo speaking area of Nigeria.
This programme in a sense, could be compared to the Students Industrial Work Experience (SIWES) programme.
Basically therefore, it is an immersion programme that enables students interact within the environment where his or her language of study is indigenous.
The programme is a prerequisite for the award of NCE in any of the Nigerian Languages.

SHORT TERM PROGRMME :Short-term Proficiency Course in Nigerian Languages. The Institute also runs short-Term proficiency course in Nigerian Languages for interested members of the public wishing to study any of the Nigerian Languages.
